We are a small organic farm in Alino, near Sofia, Bulgaria. Read more about us below, then come visit for farm-to-table private dining, courses or our events!
Our Story & The Cottage
Our original plan when moving to Bulgaria was to downsize and live a simpler, more natural lifestyle, away from the stresses of the rat-race and the endless cycle of working to pay for our house we were never in, for our cars we needed to get to work...it's a situation many of us find ourselves in and we wanted to change it. We also enjoy a bit of an adventure! For the first two years, we lived in our house overlooking Lake Iskur, but as we settled into life here in Bulgaria, we realised we needed more land to realise our small-holding plans.
We saw what was to become Cottage Farm on a rainy March afternoon in 2013. By the end of the month we had bought it, with its serious damp, piles of rubbish, weed-filled overgrown garden and broken windows. We completely renovated the farmhouse, in traditional style and have worked the derelict plot into a sustainable small-holding, following organic principles. Cottage Farm is now home to a happy host of animals and a range of organic fruit and vegetables.
Dining at Cottage Farm
We love to cook and offer a range of dining options here at the farm, using our delicious, fresh, clean produce, offering you a true farm-to-table experience, in beautiful surroundings overlooking the Rila mountains. We are not a restaurant (but a 'farm with food') so when you come to an event here, it is just for you.
As well as bespoke private dining events we will tailor to suit your needs, we offer a series of events throughout the year, from Burns' Night, to Easter to traditional Christmas dinners. Keep a eye on the site and our facebook and instagram pages for upcoming events and pop-up dinners. We pride ourselves in offering a personalised service, so if you have any special requirements, please just ask. (Please note, a non-refundable deposit is required for block bookings and private events.)
