We are a small organic farm, in Alino, near Sofia, Bulgaria. Read more about us below, then arrange your visit! Or for a romantic break for two, stay in our new shepherd’s hut!
Our Story & The Cottage
Our original plan when moving to Bulgaria was to downsize and live a simpler, more natural lifestyle, away from the stresses of the rat-race and the endless cycle of working to pay for our house we were never in, for our cars we needed to get to work...it's a situation many of us find ourselves in and we wanted to change it. We also enjoy a bit of an adventure! For the first two years, we lived in our house overlooking Lake Iskur, but as we settled into life here in Bulgaria, we realised we needed more land to realise our small-holding plans.
We saw what was to become Cottage Farm on a rainy March afternoon in 2013. By the end of the month we had bought it, with its serious damp, piles of rubbish, weed-filled overgrown garden and broken windows. We completely renovated the farmhouse, in traditional style and have worked the derelict plot into our own sustainable small-holding, following organic principles.
