We've had some lovely events here at the farm recently. We prepared a delicious English Afternoon Tea for some special clients - we had a real international mix of Bulgarian, French, English, Brazilian and South African friends here, as well as our terrific Canadian and American work-awayers who are here volunteering for a couple of weeks. Kevin made a perfect Victoria Sponge Cake and some scones which we served with mulberry and plum jams and cream and we prepared some traditional tea-time finger sandwiches with our own ham, our own eggs with homemade mayonnaise, cucumber and smoked salmon with cream cheese.
Last Sunday was Easter in the UK, so we had a big Sunday lunch with friends. What better excuse to enjoy a delicious pork roast with crackling and mountains of roast potatoes! We followed this with a fantastic lemon tart, made by one of our super volunteers, Chynna, and an apple and rhubarb crumble. We have been carefully nurturing our rhubarb crowns (they take a good two to three years to establish properly), so this first taste was the best!
